More about lessons
Lessons vary between one half hour and one hour in length depending on the age and level of the student.
Lessons are usually are held at the University of Illinois Music Building.
Cost is usually 30 dollars per hour pro-rated however I will never let the cost get in the way of a student's participation in lessons.
Reeds: beginning students should inquire with me concerning reeds. Intermediate to advanced students will purchase my reeds and/or make their own. All students must have at least three working reeds at any given time!
What we will do: we will cover all aspects of performing music on the bassoon. This includes solo repertoire, etudes, scales/fundamentals, breathing, articulation, orchestral excerpts and phrasing. I will ask students to buy solo literature and etude books. I might also ask students to photocopy various exercises and collections that I have created (i.e. creative commons materials). Lessons will be fun however students are expected to come prepared musically to every lesson. Students also need to be prepared to focus for the entire duration of the lesson.
